A few weeks ago we forgot to shut the door to the hen house in the evening. One of the foxes that comes around nightly took advantage of the situation, and our laying hen population was drastically reduced.Last week, the newest addition to the farm was a batch of chicks. The new babies include both Road Island Reds and Lt. Brahmas, brown egg laying hens. They were ordered in a "straight run", meaning that there is the possibility that there will be male chicks. If so, they will be the first roosters on the property. Look our ladies!
